Parents and Families

Welcome parents and families!

At Dorchester Collegiate Academy, one of our primary goals is to develop meaningful partnerships with you—the parents and families of each student.  We understand that you are the first of educators of your children and that your feedback and advice helps us provide a better education for your children.

We also recognize the research about your involvement with your child’s education:

1)   your involvement is the most important factor in the success of students who are in

jeopardy of dropping out of school.

2)  parents and families of all cultural backgrounds, education, and economic levels have high

expectations for their children and will actively participate in their children’s education when

      provided meaningful opportunities.

The Academy embraces the unique and invaluable contributions that you have to offer with the hope that the Academy will become an extension of your family.

We organize meaningful and regular activities that connect you and Academy teachers, staff, and administrators.  These activities include:

  1. •Bi-weekly communication with parents to discuss student achievements and challenges.

  2. •A parent orientation before the start of the school year.

  3. •Workshops for parents and families based on their suggestions (e.g., Financial Planning and How To Help My Child With Homework workshops).
